Admission

Part-time Pupils (Nursery)

Children are eligible to join the Nursery in the September after they turn three.

The first September after their 3rd birthday.
To secure a place in the Nursery for your child, you must fill out an application form, which is available here.

We are unable to participate in the Admissions Process directly; however, we are available to answer any questions you might have and provide assistance as needed. Regrettably, parents of Nursery-aged pupils who have not been granted a place at the school do not possess the right to appeal against the decision made by the Local Authority.

Early-Entitlement

Children are entitled to 10 hours of educational placement per week starting from the term immediately after their third birthday. The on-site preschool playgroup participates in this scheme, offering placements accordingly. While the school can provide guidance, further details are available directly from the playgroup, either by visiting in person or by calling 07891717320.

Full-time pupils (Reception)

Children are eligible for admission to the Reception class in the September following their fourth birthday. To apply for a Reception place for your child, you must complete an application form, available here. The Admission Authority for Conwy will inform parents about the allocation of Nursery and Reception places.

Details of Conwy’s Admission Policy are accessible on their website: School Admissions Policy – Conwy County Borough Council

Upon reaching the age of five, education becomes compulsory, and parents have the right to state their preferred school. If your child is not allocated a place in their academic year by Conwy’s Admission Authority, you have the option to appeal to the Local Authority.

Transfer between primary schools

Should you desire to transfer your child from another school, it is necessary to fill out a transfer request form and submit it to the Local Authority. The Admissions Authority will then inform parents whether a place has been successfully allocated.

Secondary Transition

Children transition to secondary schools after Year 6. Those living within the school’s catchment area have the option to attend Ysgol Aberconwy, Ysgol John Bright, or Ysgol y Creuddyn. In preparation for their transfer in September, staff from these secondary schools visit throughout the school year. Additionally, arrangements are made for our Year 5/6 pupils to visit these secondary schools.

Please Note:

The Local Authority is solely responsible for all maintained schools in Conwy. We can only accept 45 pupils into each year group.
