School Meals
Our school canteen prepares meals in accordance with our healthy eating policy. Pupils have the option to bring their own packed lunches, but we request that parents adhere to the school’s healthy eating guidelines, considering the impact of nutrition on concentration, behaviour, and learning potential throughout the afternoon. All drinks should be brought in leak-proof plastic containers. If you wish for your child to switch from school dinners to packed lunches or vice versa, please inform the school in writing at least one week prior to the change.
Allergies / Specific Dietary Needs
If your child requires a special diet or certain foods need to be avoided, please inform our school cook, in writing. The school cook is willing to accommodate your child’s dietary needs. An appointment can be arranged to discuss these needs further by contacting the school office.
Should your child arrive after registration, please inform the school secretaries if a school dinner will be needed.
School meals are provided free of charge for all pupils.

Healthy School
Ysgol Deganwy is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and aims to increase parents’ awareness of the importance of children’s nutrition. The school has participated in a long-term food research project indicating that children following a healthy eating and drinking program show an increase in learning potential. This highlights the significant impact that nutrition can have not only on children’s health later in life but also on their learning potential and behaviour in school.
