School Language Classification: Transitional 2
As a Transitional Category 2 School, Ysgol Deganwy is working towards being a Dual Language Category 2 School. Our aim is that at least 50% of learners’ school activities (both curricular and extra-curricular) will be in Welsh. As a school we will be working closely with all stakeholders to achieve this vision.
Our Journey to Becoming a Category 2 School
Ysgol Deganwy is working hard to raise the standard and profile of the Welsh language in line with Welsh Government’s National Target and Welsh Charter Project of realising 1 million Welsh speakers by the year 2050. We are proud to be a school in Wales and provide our pupils with the skills to develop as confident, bilingual communicators. Bilingualism provides greater opportunities and opens doors so that our pupils feel a sense of belonging within their school, their community and the wider world whilst enabling them to be immersed in Welsh culture. See here a pamphlet which outlines our current provision and the way in which we aim to continue to develop the Welsh language at Ysgol Deganwy.
